Slow hair growth is frustrating… especially if you’re losing hair and you need to thicken it up asap. I’ve been there so I know how it feels to lose hair and to seek remedy but not able to get immediate results.
I understand the need for instant results. Yet we need to first accept the fact that quick fixes are not real solutions. Healing is a process. It requires time and consistency to yield results.
The good news is that growing healthy hair faster is possible. With regular use of these proven remedies we can grow thicker and more voluminous hair.
Improve your diet
Time and again we hear this advice. But this is the truth. We need to eat healthy stuff if we want great hair. We need to get vitamins and minerals like protein, B vitamins, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, iron, sulphur, calcium, and other nutrients that support hair growth. These nutrients are necessary to grow healthy strands.
For example, we need to eat good protein-rich food items to boost the production of keratins. This structural protein makes our hair flexible but strong. Lack of protein can lead to “hair growth shutdown” for about three months due to protein rationing. To prevent this, we need to eat enough of protein foods daily. We also need to increase our intake of fruits, vegetables, fatty fish, nuts, and seeds. These foods can give us omega acids, iron, and other minerals for hair growth.
Take hair growth vitamins
Nutritional deficiencies are one of the culprits of hair loss. We need to make sure that our vitamin levels are normal. Hair loss is just one sign of vitamin deficiency. Sometimes dietary sources aren’t enough. To offset this, we need to take a good quality supplement.
Biotin, folic acid, iron, omega acids, and protein increase hair growth fast. Although we get them from food, vitamin therapy may be necessary especially if we experience hair fall and breakage. Biotin therapy for example can improve the quality of damaged, brittle hair. It also encourages hair growth at a double rate.
Improve your hair care routineWeak hair needs better care. This means we need to handle our hair with care whether it be in-shower or post-shower. Here are some gentle ways to treat our hair:
- Use a natural shampoo to prevent drying and damaging our follicles
- Massage the scalp with an organic oil before washing at least twice a week
- Pamper the hair with a hot oil treatment or a nourishing hair mask at least once a week
- Use an herbal rinse such as apple cider vinegar rinse
- Use cold water as a final rinse to close up the hair cuticles
- Air dry your hair before brushing. Also use a wide-tooth comb or boar bristle brush to prevent breakage
- Avoid using hair heating tools and over-styling the hair
- Give hair a trim at least once in two months
